Who we are

pameet is an online classroom app for live video classes, whiteboard, screen sharing, chat, and session recording. This policy applies to the pameet mobile app (iOS and Android) and the related website and services ("the Service").

Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information:

• Account information you provide when you create or use an account — your name, email address, phone number, and password (stored only in hashed form).
• Content you create in the Service — classes and sessions you host or join, chat messages, whiteboard content, class notes, quizzes, and documents you upload.
• Session recordings — the camera, microphone, screen share and whiteboard of a class are recorded into a video only while a recording is running. Live audio and video that is not being recorded passes through our servers to deliver the class and is not stored. A recording is started by the teacher, assistant or organization administrator running the class, not by participants, and the app shows a recording indicator to everyone in the room while it runs. If you are a participant you cannot switch a recording off; if you do not want to be recorded, you can turn off your camera and microphone or leave the class.
• Usage and technical data needed to operate live classes — device and app information, log data, approximate connection quality, and similar diagnostics. This includes your attendance in a class (when you joined and left) and, when you play back a recording, the fact that you viewed it together with your IP address and browser or app user-agent.
• Push notification token — an identifier from Apple or Google that lets us deliver notifications (for example, that a class is starting). You can turn off notifications in your device settings.
• Your mobile number, for SMS codes — where an account is created or recovered by phone, we send a one-time code to your number by SMS. Those messages are delivered by an SMS provider, which receives your number and the code for that purpose only.
• Sign-in with Google (Android) — if you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google to create or match your account. The iOS app does not offer Google sign-in.

We do not intentionally collect precise location, contacts, photos, or advertising identifiers, and pameet does not use your data for third-party advertising or tracking.

How we use information

We use your information to:

• provide, operate, and maintain the Service and run live classes;
• create and manage your account and authenticate you;
• send service communications and class notifications;
• provide support and respond to your requests;
• keep the platform secure and prevent abuse;
• improve reliability and quality of the Service.

How information is shared

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:

• Within your organization / class — the teachers, assistants, and administrators of a class or organization you join can see your participation and the content you post in that context (for example, your display name, attendance, and chat messages).
• With service providers that process data on our behalf: Apple Push Notification service (iOS notifications), Firebase Cloud Messaging from Google (Android and web notifications), Google Sign-In (Android authentication), and our SMS provider (one-time sign-in codes). They may only use the data to provide that service to us.
• For legal reasons — where required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the Service.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, and as required to meet legal, security, or dispute-resolution obligations. When you delete your account, we remove or anonymize your personal data as described below.

Session recordings are kept for 90 daysand are then deleted automatically. Before that, the teacher or organization administrator who owns the class can delete a recording at any time from the app. Chat messages, whiteboard content, class notes and uploaded documents are kept for as long as the class they belong to exists. Playback records (that a recording was viewed, with the viewer's IP address and user-agent) are kept as a security and abuse-prevention log.

Deleting your account

You can permanently delete your account at any time from within the app, at Settings → Delete account. Deletion removes your personal data — your name, email, phone number, and credentials — and disables sign-in. Records that belong to an organization you took part in (for example, class attendance or messages you sent in a class) may be retained by that organization in anonymized form so its own records stay intact. You do not need to contact us to delete your account.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and limit access to it.

Children's privacy

pameet is intended for use by educational organizations, teachers, and adult account holders, and is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country). Where a school or teacher uses pameet with students, the organization is responsible for obtaining any consent required by law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without appropriate consent; if you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

International use

The Service may be operated from, and your information processed in, countries other than your own. By using the Service you understand your information may be processed in those locations.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise most of these directly in the app or by contacting us.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
